Steps

Collected = from customersOn Daily Sale, use Sales tax collected — tax on the register that is not your profit.

See the home stripWhen sales have tax, home can show Collected vs Paid vs still to remit (book estimate).

Paid = to the stateWhen you write the tax check or ACH, log Expense with category Sales tax paid.

Read notes if oldOlder nights may only say “Tax collected: $X” in notes — still counts as collected.

On your next Z, fill Sales tax collected with the tax total from the register if you track it.

Avoid

Don’t put vendor product tax the same way as sales tax remittance. Purchases stay purchases; remittance is Sales tax paid.
