Close store nightly checklist (that staff will actually follow)
A good close is boring — and boring makes money. Use this checklist for convenience, smoke, and lottery shops. Pair it with MR.STORE so the numbers land in the same place every night.
Before you lock the door
- Z / daily sale — register total logged (not “tomorrow morning”)
- Cash count — drawer vs expected; note over/short
- Cash drop / deposit — money moved to safe or bag written down
- Lottery — activations/payouts not mixed blindly into Z
- What’s out — mark dead faces for morning order
- Trash, restrooms, floor — customer-facing close
- Doors, cooler locks, cameras — security pass
- Staff clock out — if you track shifts
